You know there are many temples in Kyoto. Actually Kyoto has over 3,000 temples! We visited 7 temples in this Kyoto trip. So Let’s share about them♡
京都にはたくさんお寺があるのは知っていましたが、3000以上ものお寺があると知り驚きです。今回の京都旅行では、その中の7つのお寺に行きました。今日のそのお寺について(^^)/
◯Kiyomizudera temple
Kiyomizudera is one of the most famous temple in Japan. It has over 1200 years history. Kiyomizudera is best known for its wooden stage that juts out from its main hall. The temple is very peaceful and the view from the temple is great. Before buying your ticket, you can see beautiful painted entrance gate and pagoda. Remember that the main hall of Kiyomizu-dera is presently being renovated till 2020. But I think Kiyomizudera is still must-go place in Kyoko😉
◯清水寺
言わずと知れた京都の有名観光スポットの清水寺。1200年以上の歴史があるとは驚きです。昔修学旅行で行ったことはあるけれど、大人になってから行くと、子供のころとは全く違う感覚。床や柱の木からは、コンクリートとは全く違う歴史を感じます。2020年に改修が終わるそうなので、また改修が終わるころ、そして桜か紅葉の時期にまた行きたいと思う場所です。
○Yasaka Koshindo Temple（Kongo-ji Koshin-do temple)
Yasaka Koshindo Temple is a small temple located in Higashiyama district in Kyoto. It is close by famous Yasaka-no-to Pagoda.(also near with Kiyomizu dera temple). The temple is known for its unique decoration of colorful dolls. The dolls are talisman which is called”kukurizaru” The kukurizaru is representing a monkey with tied hands and feet to the back. The tied monkey means “not to give free rein to one’s desires”.It is believed that if you give up with one of your greeds, one of your wish may come true. Many people take the pictures in front of the colorful monkeys! If you want to take colorful pictures or make a wish, go to Yasaka Koshindo Temple!
○八坂庚申堂（大黒山延命院金剛寺）
カラフルな人形がくくられていることで有名な八坂庚申堂。あの有名な八坂の塔のすぐそばです。小さいお寺なので、最初通りすぎて気付きませんでした・・(^^；)カラフルな人形はくくり猿といわれていて、 手足をくくられて動けなくなった猿の姿のお守り。何も知らないで見ていた時は人形が猿だとは分かりませんでした。なぜ猿がくくられているのかというと、欲望のままに行動する猿を動けない姿にすることで、欲に走らないよう人間を戒めているとのことです。そんなことから、くくり猿に願いを込めて欲をひとつ我慢すると、願いを叶えてくれるそう。インスタ映えの写真を撮りたい時はもちろん（笑）、なにかお願いごとをしたい時、このお寺に訪れてみると良いかもしれませんね♪
〇Shoujuin temple
I think Shoujuin temple is most instagrammable temple in Kyoto because of heart-shaped window and the beautiful painted ceiling. The temple is not in major touristic routes of Kyoto and it’s not very accessible. But this small and compact temple is very interesting and cute. The heart-shaped window is called Inome window that is a traditional Japanese pattern with over 1400 years history. Not only the pretty window, the ceiling is also amazing! You can see 160 patterns of ceiling paintings. These pretty window and ceiling are in guest room, and you can also enjoy green tea in main room.
〇正寿院（しょうじゅいん）
京都で１番インスタ映えするお寺かな？（笑）ハート型の猪の目窓と天井画が、とてもかわいらしい正寿院にも初めて行ってきました。京都の観光名所が集まっている場所からは外れていて、少しアクセスが悪いのは難点ですが、たくさんの人が訪れておりました(^^)お目当てのハート型の窓と美しい天井画は、正寿院の客殿にありました。１つ１つ絵が違う160種類もある天井画は、本当に美しかったです。そして本殿ではお参りをし、冷茶を頂きました。夏はちょうど風鈴祭りがやっていて、たくさんの風鈴の音を聞きながらお茶を頂く時間は、癒しの時間となりました。
◯Kinkajuji temple（Golden Pavilion）
Golden Pavilion is simply beautiful! The temple is covered in gold leaf and built in large pond. The reflection pond is also amazing. The garden is an extraordinary example of a Japanese strolling garden. Golden Pavilion is great attraction and great photo spot but very crowdy with many tourists😅
〇金閣寺（鹿苑寺）
こちらも言わずと知れた有名な観光スポット。鏡湖池（きょうこち）に映し出される金閣寺がまた美しい✨人は多いですが、流れも早いので写真がなかなか撮れないということもないです。入口から入ってすぐ金閣寺が見られて、そのあとは美しい日本庭園をぐるっと一周し、金閣寺の観光はあっという間に終わってしまいました。
○Ryoanji temple
It takes only 6-7 minutes from Golden Pavilion to Ryoanji temple by bus. (25 minutes by walk) This temple is the site of Japanese famous rock Zen garden. An interesting point of the garden’s design is that from any spot at least one of the rocks is always hidden from the viewer. I think it is good to find a place to sit, relax and enjoy the rock garden. Actually Ryoanji temple is not for photos, but for relaxing and feeling Zen culture. If you are interested in Zen Buddhism culture, it is great temple to visit!
◯龍安寺（りょうあんじ）
金閣寺からバスで約6分ほどで龍安寺へ。（徒歩だと25分ほど）世界遺産にもなっているお寺で、石庭が有名です。石庭の石は15個あり、どこから眺めても必ず1個は他の石に隠れて見えないように設計されているそうです。足りないものを見つめ、今の自分が存在することを心から感謝することを忘れてはならないという想いが込められているとのことですが、奥が深い・・・。他にも色々な謎とされるものがあり、ゆっくりその意味を自分なりに解釈するのも楽しい時間かもしれません。
○Zuishinin temple
Zuishinin is known as a temple with strong connections to Ono-no-Komachi who was very famous for a beautiful woman with great skill in poetry in the ninth century. I wanted to go to this temple to see a beautiful Fusuma (sliding door) painting. The painting is so pretty and I love it! The painting is also related with Ono-no-Komachi. Not only the Fusuma painting, many souvenirs are also pink and cute♡ And Zuishinin temple is a very quiet temple with few tourists😉
〇随心院
小野小町にゆかりがあるという随心院へ。境内には、絶世の美女といわれた平安時代の女流歌人・小野小町の史跡が残されているそうです。私たちのお目当は随心院にある美しい襖（ふすま）絵。実際に見てみても写真で見た通りの美しさ。全体的にピンクで小野小町の生涯が描かれているそうです。歴史を感じるお寺で、観光客も少なく良いところでした(^^)
○Kodaiji temple
This temple is Kodaiji temple that was established in 1606 in memory of Toyotomi Hideyoshi who is the one of Japan’s greatest historical figures. His wife, Nene is also enshrined at the temple. There are beautiful Japanese gardens that includes a rock garden, and green gardens around this temple. It is peaceful time to walk. And there is also small bamboo forest there! I don’t know why, but I love bamboo forest:) It is lovely and quiet temple.
◯高台寺
当初は行く予定にはしていなかったですが、東山の方から、ねねの道に行く時に前を通り、気になってしまったお寺。豊臣秀吉と北政所ねねのお寺でした。広めの境内には、所々にお寺の方が立っていて、その場所場所の説明をしてくださったのが印象的です。広い庭園と竹林もあり、ちょっとしたお散歩コースにもなりそうな境内でした。
