Leaving Cologne, we went towards Eltz castle. There are not many public transportation, so we rented a car. We rented a car in Cologne, and returned it in Frankfurt.
ケルンの後は、エルツ城へ向かいました。公共機関だと本数が少なく、時間の融通が利かなそうでしたので、私たちはケルンからレンタカーを借りてエルツ城へ向かいました。Europcar ケルン支店でレンタカーを借り、フランクフルトで乗り捨てのプランです。
In the season we went to, only guided tours are permitted to enter Eltz castle. Thus we knew we couldn’t get in the castle, but we wanted to see the beautiful castle with our own eyes. Parked our car, and we walked about 15 minutes.
私たちが訪れた時期のエルツ城は、ガイドツアーのみ入城可能の時期でした。しかし一目姿を見たくてエルツ城を訪れることに。駐車場で車を降り、森の中を15分ほど歩きました。
Going out the forest, we finally saw this beautiful castle!
そして森の中から突然見えてくるこの景色！
When you see Eltz castle from top of the mountain, you realize the castle is in the deep Eltz Forest. It is a great experience the Middle Ages and nature. It was really breathtaking experience for me.
上から見ると森に囲まれているお城だというのがよく分かります。深い森の中に突如現れる美しい姿を見ると、中世のおとぎ話の世界に来たような気分になりました。とっても美しい・・。今まで見たことない景色にただただ感動でした。朝もやが少しかかっており良い感じでした。そしてさらに下を下っていくとエルツ城の目の前につきました。
Eltz Castle has remained in the possession of the original family and was never destroyed. It has been in possession of the Eltz family for more than 800 years. エルツ城は、ドイツの多数あるお城と違い、戦争中などにも一度も傷つけられることがなく、800年以上の歴史があるそうです。12世紀の着工から一度も陥落したことがない、本物の中世の古城とのこと。

We went there about 7am, but we are not only person there. Some people also were there and took pictures. It is not accessible, but totally worth it! 早朝にお城を見に行く人は私たちだけかと思っておりましたが、他にも３組ほどいらっしゃいました。ドイツ３大美城お城と言われているお城なので、外から見るだけでも美しさに圧倒され、十分満足でした。 アクセスは良いとは言えないですが本当に行ってよかったです。
