COLOGNE

Arrived at Frankfurt Airport, and we headed to Cologne by Germany train, ICE. The first thing we saw after going out of Cologne station is Cologne Cathedral. It was little foggy and that was beautiful because it was just right after the rain.
フランクフルト空港に着き、まず向かった先がケルン。ドイツ鉄道の高速列車、ICEに乗りケルン駅に到着しました。駅をでてまず見えるのが、ケルン一番の見所ケルン大聖堂！駅からでてすぐ見える大迫力の大聖堂に驚きました。雨が上がったばかりで霧がでており、それがまた良い演出でした。

At first, we had a small dinner at “Meister Bock”. It was delicious even though it was very simple, just sausages and bread. That day was already night, so we headed to the hotel.
さっそくドイツでの最初の食事を駅内のMeister Bockというソーセージ屋さんで頂きました。パンとソーセージだけというシンプルなものですが、とてもおいしかったです。立ち食いのお店なので、たくさんの方が気軽に立ち寄って召し上がっておりました。この日はもうすでに夜だったので、ホテルへ向かいました。

Our hotel was in front of Cologne Cathedral, so it was easy to take pictures of the cathedral in early morning. The height of Cologne Cathedral is 157m, that is equal to 40 story skyscraper. This Gothic masterpiece took place in several stages and was not completed until 1880.
ホテルのほぼ目の前にケルン大聖堂があるという好立地もあり、翌朝は早めにでて人が少ない時間のケルン大聖堂をパチリ。ケルン大聖堂の前は、昼からは人がとても多くなるので朝早い撮影がオススメです。大聖堂の高さは157mあり、ビル40階の高さに相当する姿は迫力満点です。約632年の歳月をかけて1880年に完成した大聖堂はカトリック教会で、ゴシック様式の建築物の中では世界最大級と言われているそうです。

We had breakfast at coffee shop”Kamps” in Cologne station.
朝ごはんは簡単にケルン駅内のKampsというお店で食べました。プレッツェルのマークが目印です。朝から電車に乗るまでにたくさんの人が持ち帰りのパンやコーヒーを買われていました。

After enjoying Cologne Cathedral, we headed to old town area on the bank of Rhine River. This area is called fish market. This is a quite place to sit and even you can enjoy good food in some of the restaurants in this market area.
ケルン大聖堂を間近から、そして大聖堂内を楽しんだ後は、旧市街エリアへ。ライン川に面したフィッシュマルクトでは、カラフルな家が並び写真スポットとしても人気のようでした。とてもかわいい街並みです。

It was very pleasant to take a walk along Rhine River. Around there, there are many cafes and restaurants.
ライン川のほとりをお散歩する時間はとっても気持ちよかったです。このあたりはレストランが多く立ち並び、外のお席だとウォーターフロントの景色を見ながらお食事を楽しめる場所です。

Keep walking on Rhine River, we found Cologne Chocolate Museum. This museum is located on the Rhine within walking distance to where the long ships are docked. The exterior is stylish.
そして、そのまままっすぐライン川沿いを歩き、チョコレート博物館に行きました。ライン川沿いにあり、ガラス張りの船のような形をしたおしゃれな外観です。

This is Hans Imhoff. He was a German chocolate producer and founder of this museum.
こちらの創設者は、チョコレート王と呼ばれていたケルン出身のハンス・イムホフ（Hans Imhoff）さん。チョコレートで財をなされた方とのこと。

The museum has info about the process of farming and collecting cocoa beans, and you can see how to make chocolate. This is a nice place to take a break and enjoy a chocolate treat. There is a restaurant in the building serving everything chocolate. 2006年より協力パートナーは“Stollwerck”から、スイスのチョコレートメーカー”Lindt”になったそうで、 Lindt（リンツ）のチョコレートが並んでおりました。チョコレートを作っている行程が見られ、リンツのチョコレートを頂くこともできます。お土産コーナーではものすごい数のチョコレートの種類が売られておりました。

Leaving Cologne Chocolate Museum, we had a lunch at the restaurant near Rhine River. It was sooo good! It is difficult to remember the name of sausage for me.
チョコレート博物館を出て、ライン川ほとりを歩き、今度は昼食です。ライン川沿いにあるお店でソーセージを頂きました。このぐるぐる巻きのソーセージは、ブラートヴルストシュネッケンというそうです。ドイツはソーセージの種類で名前が違うので、慣れないとどういうソーセージがでてくるのか来てからのお楽しみ状態でした(^^)笑もちろんビールも頂きました。ケルンのビール「ケルシュ」です。少し甘めがあるビールでした。

After this lunch, we walked on Hohenzollern Bridge. The bridge is full of love locks.
ランチの後は、有名なケルン大聖堂の方へ戻り、ホーエンツォレルン橋を渡ります。恋人たちが永遠の愛を誓って南京錠をくくりつける橋として有名で、ぎっしり鍵がかかっておりました。
